Commencement Public Schools.
The city schools close this week. The
regular public examinations are being
held at the city hall this week, and
they have attracted a good deal of in
terest.
Next Sunday the commencement
sermon will be preached at Hunt’s
opera house by Rev. W. L. Pierce at
li o’clock. Next Monday evening, be
ginning at 8:30 o’clock, at the same
place, the regular commencement ex
ercises will be held. The past term
has been a verv successful one and the
teachers and pupils are entitled to a
much needed rest.

Had A Big Time.
There was an all day singing at Mt.
Vernon in Quillian’s district, last Sun
day * It is estimated that there were
a thousand people present, and every
body enjoyed the day. The singing
was led by Prof. J. L. Crow, who has
quite a reputation as a leader and
teacher. A big dinner was Spread at
the noon hour, and everybody was
told to help ^themselves, which they
did.

covered pavilion, 24X36 feet, on the
Chattahoochee river, where the dam
for the railroad and power plant is
being erected. The grounds surround

have been put on the river. It is a
nice place for picnics and dances and,
no doubt, will soon become a favorite
resort for pleasure seekers.
