WILSON’S
I haven’t much news this week. I
have been helping my wife make
sorghum, i. e., Bhe fed the mill,
attended the evaporator, did the
skimming and I did the work. I
am covered with skimmings from
tip to toe. My pants will stand
alone and I can’t sit down nor go
to town until I have my breeches
washed.
Mr. Borders has bought the
Davenport gin property near
Pleasant Hill, and has also bought
a corn mill from Mr. A. J. Mundy.
As there was no mill in that cor
ner it will be very convenient for
the people. That Oakwood fel
low is making me look towards
the river—I will be over in Forsyth
next time.
To show how fraternal our set
tlement is, twenty-one of his
neighbors went into brother
Brown’s fields this week and
picked out his cotton while he was
at the bedside of his sick wife.
Also, brother W. T. Martin lost-
his cow, and a collection was taken
in just a little while sufficient to
replace it.
Mrs. A. 1). Brown is very low
with fever.. She is attended by
her family physician, I)r. W. A.
Palmour.
I. M. Smith of Gainesville, has
moved into our settlement.
J. W. Smith has gone into the
cattle business. His cow brought
twin calves.
I cant write the news from across
the creek, that is, Oakwood. Pea
Ridge is a surburb of Oakwood.
It is to Oakwood wluvt Hamburg
is to Augusta, or Brooklyn is to
New York. Sometimes I get this
district confounded as Oakwood
once belonged to us.
