Messrs Brandon & Wood have pur* chased the Sell & Yearwood building near the Southern depot, and will move their harness and collar factory from Bradford and Washington streets to the property just purchased. They will add new machinery for stuffing collars, new harness machinery, and a new steam engine to their already well equipped plant, and greatly increase, their capacity. They propose to do a greater business than ever, and every body in Gainesville hopes they will have continued success. The Sell and Yearwood building is now occupied by the colored school, and 'the Board of Education is in a quandary as to where to move it. Messrs Brandon & Wood expect to be in their new quarters by January 1st. , and a new school building will have to be provided at once. Miss 0 Reed of Asbville, N. C. and Miss Cora Reed of the Seminary, Will be the guests of Miss Lillie McConnell. ALL LATEST BINDINGS All arrangements have been com pleted for the ceremonies Monday by the Masons and Odd Fellows when the cornerstone of the new Dean building, the home of the orders, will be laid. The day promises to be a big one for the fraternities, a large number of visitors are expected In the city, and some of the most prominent secret order men in the state will be present. Hons. Brand and Robert T. four of the most prominent • men in Georgia, will make addresses. They will stir the people with their elo quence as they extol the virtues of their respective fraternities. Hons. Hoke Smith and Allen Candler will represent the Masons, and Hon. C. H., Brand and Robert T. Daniel will speak on behalf of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. , The cornerstone ceremonies will oc cur at the corner of the new Dean building next to the Hudson House. The Odd Fellows will first carry out the ceremonies of laying the corner stone, and will be followed immedi ately by the Masons. The ceremonies are yery impressive, and will be ob served with the greatest interest. The fraternities and those who as-, semble to witness the cornerstone ceremonies will march to the audito rium of the Seminary at the conclusion of the exercises at the Dean building, the Odd Fellows leading the march. In the auditorium the addresses by the invited speakers will he delivered. Hon. Hoke Smith will speak first, fol lowed by Hon. C. H. Brand of Law- renceville. Next comes the address of Hon. Allen D. Candler, followed by the closing speech of Hon. Robert T. Daniel. The speakers will be introduced by the master of ceremonies, and between each address excellent music will be rendered. The program will be very interesting throughout., It is expected that quite a large crowd of visitors will be in the city to witness the celebration. Prominent secret order men have been invited and the Masons and Odd Fellows have determined that they will have a very pleasant occasion of it. Ham will arrive home today from an extended tour through the' North and West.' He has lectured in Pennsylvania, New York, Kentucky and Other states, and has had a very pleasant time of it. Miss Gaston is a talented young lady and her charming personality wins for her friends wherever she goes. Good Trade. The merchants have had a good trade this week. They have sold stacks of goods, and Christmas shog ping has been profitable to them. The stores have been beautifully decorated, and the goods have been nicely dis played. Good crowds have been in from the country * and Gainesville mer chants have been doing the business. Miss Jennie Gardner is at home to spend the holidays. She has been teaching at Hartwell. M. Bell have assued invitations to a dining on Tuesday at 6 p. cm., celebrating the end of the first deeade of their married life. Mrs. Bell is famed as a hostess, and her dinners are always thoroughly enjoyed. The following very interesting program was rendered at the Christmas entertainment at the Seminary by the primary department last Tuesday evening. A fairly good crowd was present, and the children acquitted themselves nicely. Under the direction of Miss Shephard the pupils in the primary department are making rapid progress. PROGRAM. F, M.
