Conducted Institute.
Rev. J. A. Wynne is at home from
Flat Creek church where he conducted
an. institute under the auspices of the
Chattahoochee Baptist Association last
week. He was assisted by Rev. Mr.
Parks of the Dahlonega Baptist church
and other ministers of the association.
Mr. Wynne states that the institute
was very successful in every respect,
and much good will no doubt result
from it.
At Home Again.
Dr. C. A. Ryder is at home again from
Dalilonega where he spent two weeks
doing dental work. He did a large
business and gaye satisfaction to his
patrons, as he always does. Dr. Ryder
is again ready to accommodate those
needing dental work and can be found
at his office on Washington street.
Another Heal.
Misses Montgomery have purchased
the house and lot of Mrs. Ella Lewis

An economical husband once re
minded his wife of practical busi
ness transactions in saying to her:
“Susan, don’t you spend a cent
■of money with merchants that
■don’t advertise in the peper-a.”
The wife who was herself a
practical business woman, replied;
“You old goose, I learned better
than to go where I am not invited
long ago. You would be an old
bachelor now if } r ou had not in
vited me to be your wife. Catch
me going to a store here without
an invitation; I guess not.”

The Teacher in Politics.
Say» the Cordele Sentinel:
In politics the teacher is in
vincible. The experience he lias
learned of human nature in the
schoolroom makes him a com
mander and manipulator of men.
In after years when he has laid
aside the rod to assume the state
lier robes of some civil office, his
knowledge of men acquired in the
schoolroom serves him to abetter
purpose and gives him the go on
his less accomplished opponent in
the study of men. Every obstacle
falls before the wielder of the
birch and rod. Witness the re
markable success even at this ear
ly date of Allan Candler who in
years not so long passed was a
typical Georgia pedagogue. Wit
ness the alacrity with which tin-
people rallied ex-Governor North-
en, one of the foremost teachers
of the state in his time. There
seeriis to be an inspiration and an
influence about the teacher in
politics that cannot be overcome.
In matters political he stands
pre-eminently successful in poli
tics. You need only to have been
a teacher. There is a record of
unbroken success. Allan Candler
was once a Georgia pedagogue, a
teacher of ideas. Examine the
record of the teacher in politics
and few will there be to assume
the courage of opposing him for
any office.

that it will do all that is claimed for
it. As a remedy for colic it is the best
I have ever used.

The Government to Stop Printing-
Envelopes.
Printers will be interested in
the announcement that as soon as
the present contract for printing
envelopes for the Postoffice De
partment expires, the Government
will cease the business of print
ing return cards on envelopes. It
will also interest them, as well as
all business men to know that, by
a recent ruling, letters that can
not be delivered will be held
thirty days, unless a shorter time
is indicated on the envelope.—
