A careful examination of the hearts of the vegetarian and the meat eater show that the number of beats to the former are fifty- eight to the minute and of the latter seven tv-two. In twenty- four hours this means a difference of 20,000 beats. From this it is concluded that in the summer time the vegetarian has the advantage for he can keep cooler and m bet ter health under the reduced num ber of heart beats. *But in a cold climate or in our own winters, the heat generated by such slow heart beats would hardly be sufficient to make life strong and resisting enough. The true verdict that one must reach is that the vegetarmn is bettor off in the summer and meat eater stronger in winter.— Tid-Bits. Plymouth, Pa.. We are glad to learn that there will probably be no difficulty in raising the $10,000 which'must be subscribed to make available the $10,000 appropriated by the state for the establishment of a textile school as a department of the State School of Technology. There is therefore a good prospect that the textile school will be open in a few months and that be fore long we shall begin to receive practical benefits of .its work.
