Mr. J. II. Hunt returned Wednesday
from Tennessee where he 'purchased a
plant for-an ice factory. The machin
ery has already been shipped and will
arrive and will be put in place in a few
days. The capacity of the plant is ten
tons a day, and Mr. Hunt will have it
in operation with'n less than thirty
days. The people of Gainesville should
stand by Mr. Hunt in this enterprise as
it is one of value to the city.
Back from New York. .
Mr. J. E. Murphy is back from New
York having arrived Wednesday, ac
companied by his saleslady, Mrs. Nora
Powell, and his trimmer, Miss Bettie
Powell. Mr. Murphy bought an ele
gant line of goods and will soon display
them in the Dean building. His sales-

Gainesville trade and is an experienced
milliner, for several years having been
with Kutz. M,ss Powell, his trimmer,
has spent a number ox years m the
South and understands the wishes of

Mrs. S. C. Dunlap Entertains.
The Yo.ung Matrons Club was char
mingly entertained Thursday afternoon
by Mrs. S. C. Dunlap at her elegant
home on Green street. A “Donkey
party” was a feature of the afternoon’s
pleasure, Mrs.J. B. Estes winning the
first, and Mrs A. B. Christopher win
ning the second prize. Delicious re
freshments were served and the recep
tion proved to be one of the m®st char
ming yet tendered the coterie of hand
some young matrons of the Altrurian
Circle.

Most of the pupils are practicing
for the declamation to come off on

trustees of the college are having

dent rendered his decision in favor

A. M. Chandler, aged seventy eight
years, died iu Morgan’s district Thurs
day and was buried yesterday at twelve
