Tradition says “woman must suf
fer,” and young women, are so taught.
There is a little truth and a great deal
of exaggeration in this. If a young
woman suffers severely she needs treat
ment, and her mother should see that
she gets it.
Many mothers hesitate-to take their
daughters to a physician for examina
tion : but ho mother need hesitate to
write freely about her- daughter or

The many friends. of Mr. and
Mrs. Reuben Teagle rejoice with
them that their little two-year-old
boy, Homer Lee, is so much better.
He was very sick for several days
with pneumonic fever.
Sunday school was organized
last Sunday and the following of

Bros,, has as fine a house and 4
farm on the Walnut river as you
will see anywhere. Charlie has
many friends down here who are
glad to see him doing so well.

concerned: The appraisers appointed to ap
praise and set apart a twelve months support to
Mrs. M; E. Chandler, widow of E* F. Chandler,
and her minor children, out of the estate of said
deceased, have filed their report in this office,
and unless some valid objection be made to the
Court on or before the first Monday in May, 1901,
the same then will be approved and made the

Old Mountaineer Dead.
Intelligence reached here Wednesday
last, of the death, early that morning,
at his home near Gray’s postoffice,
Lumpkin county, of Mr. Thomas
Stringer. He was 82 years of age, and
has been m failing health since the
death of ins wife last June. His body
was buried Thursday, a large crowd of
neighbors, relatives and friends paying
their last respects to the dead.
Mr. Stringer was well known in this
city, and, throughout the mountain
country,:the influence of his strong and
dominant will was universally admit
ted. He was born in Buncombe coun
ty, North Carolina, hut migrated to the
gold fields of Lumpkin county in 1850.
In 1852 he married Miss Harriet Hin
kle; who bore him. eight children, seyen
of whom are now living, viz: Messrs.
John and Allen Stringer, Mrs. A. S.
Erwin, Mrs. Chas. M. McAfee, Mrs. Joe
Evans, Mrs. W. H. Rogers and Miss
Charity Stringer, the latter having
been Mr. Stringer’s housekeeper since
the death of his-wife. In addition to
these he leaves nearly two-score grand-

Trouble in Cllnchem.
A preliminary hearing occurred yes
terday before ’Squire E. H. Langford
in Glinchem district, of the parties who
engaged in a disturbance there last
Sunday and Monday. Warrants were
issued for Thomas, Mazena and Brig
ham Benton, charging them with as
sault with intent to murder. Nicode-
mus Wright and his sons, Tom, Bob
and Cleveland, were put under peace
bonds. The trouble arose over the
question of the Wright boys’ liability
to road duty.
