HAVE YOU SEEN THE
Famous Gold Vein Comes to Light After
V- J|/. Many Tears. • • •
The finding of the celebrated Findley
chute has set the mining country wild.
It was discovered by Mr. J. B. Witt,
who, with a man named Campbell, had
the property leased for six months.
Four months of their lease passed be
fore the chute was discovered, but they
are working hard to get out all the ore
possible while their lease lasts, for then
it will pass back into the hands of the
Consolidated Gold Mining Co., who own
the property.
The Findley chute was lost fifteen or
twenty years ago. Previous to that
time it had yielded $300,000, two-thirds
of which was taken out before the war.
Prospectors have dug all around the
rich vein since that time, all to no avail.
Now Mr. Witt discovers it and becomes
a rich man, according to Captain J. W.
Adams, president of the Consolidated
Co., who passed through the city a few
days ago with a box full of ore, which
he was taking to his Ohio home to ex
hibit to his friends there.

The speci
mens certainly were nice, and Captain
Adams stated that if the vein yielded in
proportion as it goes, down as. it has so
far, which is at a depth of 150 feet, at
7Q0 feet it should yield $l,400,000. v 'This
is an immense amount, but it only goes
to show what there is in' Northeast
Georgia mines.
The Consolidated Gold Mining Co. is
the largest ever formed for the devel
opment of Georgia mines, and thou
sands of dollars have already been
spent in prospecting and equipping its
plants, which are as fine as can be
found anywhere. The discovery of the
Eindley chute will attract more atten
tion to Northeast Georgia, mining than
anything which has yet occurred.
