Comrades Help Each Other.
There have been two happy old “con-
feds” in town this week. One is “com
rade” Elias Montgomery and the other
is “comrade” George Clements; As near
ly everybody knows Mr, George Clem
ents, who is an old and disabled con
federate veteran, tries to make an hon
est living and support his invalid wife
.by selling candy from his stand around
the street corners. Meagre this sup
port necessarily must be, hut it’s all he
can do, and a good many ..mckles are
dropped into hi$ hand by those who try
to help him along. “Comrade” Mont
gomery thought out a plan by which he
believed “comrade” Clements could get
more trade and make a better living,
which was to purchase a peanut parcher
