Oratnarv’s Court.
Ordinary Dyer’s regular monthly
court was held last Monday and the
following business was disposed of :
B. F. Simmons, administrator of Mrs.
Lavina Simmons, deceased, applied for
letters of dismission. Letters granted.
Thomas C. Black, administrator of
Eliza Black, deceased, applied for let
ters of dismission. Letters granted.
Mrs. M. E. Chandler, widow of E. F.
Chandler, deceased, was allowed twelve
months’support.
Lily Walker vs. J. W. Stovall, appli
cation to have new guardian appointed,
and H. S. Walker was appointed.
M. E. Chandler and W. W. Sloan ap
plied for permanent letters of adminis
tration on estate of E. F, Chandler, de-

B. J. Hulsey was appointed guardian
for Mrs. Mary Garner, lunatic.
The will of Berry Bagwell, deceased,

A Happy Marriage.
Mr. O. A. Carter of Gainesville and
Miss Fannie Orr of Biverdale, were
married at 10 o’clock a. m., Wedn esday,
at the Presbyterian church at Biver
dale, Bev. Mr. Mathis performing the
ceremony.
The bride is a daughter of Mr. and*
Mrs. J. N. Orr and is an accomplished
young woman. The groom is .a mem
ber of the firm of Carter Bros, and is a
popular young business man.
After the marriage the couple and
their friends were tendered an elegant
wedding breakfast, after which they
came to Gainesville, arriving here
Wednesday evening. They were the
recipients of many handsome presents
from their friends.

Concert at Courthouse.
A concert will be giyen at the court
house, next Tuesday evening, by the
public schools, under the- auspices of
the Daughters of the Confederacy, for
the benefit of the Winnie Davis memo
rial fhnd. An interesting program will
be rendered and those who attend will
be delightfully entertained. The pub-
lie is cordially invited to lend their
presence to this occasion, and thus help
out a worthy cause—one in which all
southern people are especially inter
ested.

K. of P. Picnic.
The Knights of Pythias will have a
picnic at the old faii* grounds, in this
city, next Wednesday, May 15th. The
G. J. & S. railroad will run an excur
sion from Monroe and Winder, to bring
up the lodges at those places. A big
game of baseball will be played during
| the day, and m the afternoon
dance will be given at the
Guards’ armory,
furnished in
knights and the visitors are expected
to have a royal time.
Caned the Judge,
Judge J. B. Gaston is the .proud pos
sessor of a handsome gold-headed cane,
presented to him at the last meeting of
Air Line lodge, No. 64, I. O. O. F. He
worked earnestly for the success of the
recent excursion of the Odd Fellows to
Atlanta, and it was largely through his
instrumentality that the lodge did not
have to pay more for the special train.
In token of their aDpreciation of his
work, the members presented him with

The Whelchel Estate.
The property of the estate of W. P.
Whelchel, deceased, was sold by Ad-

day. The old home place on South
Bace street was bid in by Mr. B. J. Hul
sey for Dr. C. C. Whelchel for $701 ; he
also purchased a one-third interest in
the Shore place on Mud creek for $124.
Mr. B. D. Langford purchased a half
| interest in a vacant lot on Florence
street, belonging to the estate, for $31.
A Union Picnic.
An effort is being made to have a
union picnic of all the Sunday schools
of the city, perhaps next week. It is
likely that if an agreement is reached,
the Sunday schools will go to Mulberry,
on the G. J. and S. railroad, and spend
the day, having a big basket dinner.
If such arrangements are made, the G.
J. & S. railroad will furnish ample ac
commodations for handling the crowd.
