Fourteenth Annual Railroad and Steam
boat Excursions.
The above popular gentlemen of the
Georgia railroad, well known through
out the entire section as the promoters
of popular and well patronized sum
mer trips to various resorts, offer their
friends their fourteenth annual railroad
and steamboat excursion to Charleston,
Isle of Palms and a sixty-five mile trip
out on the Atlantic ocean on a steam
ship specially chartered for the occa
sion.
I This train will be under the personal I
care of the above named gentlemen,
and there will be plenty of room for all.
The train will leave Social Circle at 10 I
p. m., eastern time, Thursday, August
15th, arrive at Charleston 6:30 a. m.,
August 16th, returning leave Charles
ton 6 p. m., Saturday, August 17th, and
put everybody at home at a reasonable
hour Sunday morning.
In connection with this special train
the Gainesville, Jefferson and Southern
railroad will operate a special train
service, offering the extremely low rate
of $3.75 for the return trip from all sta-
| tions. For reserved seats or sleeping

Council Passes Ordinance to Reg
ulate Keeping of Canines. ;•

This ordinance provides that
the city clerk shall furnish a suf-
ficent number of metal tags one of
these tags are to be delivered to
the owner of any dog who shall
pay the sum of two dollars, and
it is to be worn by the dog, tags
are to be renewed annually. These
tags shall be numbered and it shall
be the duty of the clerk to keep
a record of the tags and to whom
sold. Any dog found in the city
without such a tag shall be im
pounded for 12 hours, during
which time the owngr may recover
said dog by paying two dollars
for a tag and paying one dollar to
the marshal for his trouble. If
not redeemed within said time,
the dog shall be killed by the Mar
shal. .1
No person shall be allowed to
keep In the city with or without
a tag, any dog that is dangerous I
or mischievous, or annoying to
the neighborhood in which it is
kept from loud or continuous bar
king or other cause. When the
marshal shall be notified of a dog
of this character being in £ the

Rngagement of Mr, J. D. Woodside to Miss
Maud Dorsey Announced. %
Mr. Anderson Glenn Dorsey an
nounces the engagement andapproach-
ing marriage of his daughter Maud to
Mr. Joel D. Wood side.

will take place on the 25th day of Sep
tember next.
These young people are widely
known and greatly admired by a large
circle of friends. Mr. Woodside is at
the head of the Gainesville cotton oil
company and has shown business capa
bilities far above the average, Miss
Dorsey is a bright young woman, high
ly cultivated and with a host of friends.
This marriage will unite one of Geor
gia’s fairest daughter’s to the son of a
distinguished South Carolina family,
and promises to be one of the most
prominent events of the season.
Attention Forty-third Georgia Volunteers.
A reunion of the Forty-third regi
ment of Georgia volunteers, in conjunc
tion with the Fifty-second Georgia yol-
unteers, will be held at Gainesville, on
Friday, August 23d, instead of the
20th 1 , the date having been changed.
