County Commissioners Fail to Meet.
The county commissioners were to
have met Thursday evening to discuss
the testing of the title of the public
square, with a view to selling it. The
meeting was postponed, howeyer, Com
missioner Staton’s mule having run
away and so injured the Commissioner
that he was unable to attend,
Mr. Jrio. A. Smith, president of the
board thinks the proper thing would
be to carry the matter into the courts
and let the supreme eourt determine
whether or not the property owners
around the square can prevent a sale
by reason of any equity in the square.
If this were done the people would
then know definitely what action would
be taken in the regard to the square.
