Col. H. H. Dean is preparing to
build an elegant home on his lot on

bers,. It will be one of the handsomest
homes in the city when completed.
Will Wade, col., who stole a mattress
from Mrs. B. F. Simmons last week,
was tried before Judge G. H. Prior last
Monday and sent to the chaingang for
twelve months.
Mrs. Sarah Miller, wife of Mr. James
Miller, died of dropsy at the Gaines
ville Cotton Mills Tuesday morniDg.
Her remains were inferred at Hopewell
Tuesday afternoon.

curred at the residence of Captain T.
P. Martin, on. South Bradford street,
last Wednesday afternoon at 1 o’clock.
A number of friends and relatives
were present and the marriage was a
very pretty one. Rev. W. F. Quillian,
pastor of the First Methodist church,
performed the ceremony in an impres
sive manner. The horrfe was appro
priately decorated for the occasion.

was entertained at an elaborate wed
ding dinner, after which Mi. and Mrs.
StovaH, accompanied by their friends
were driven to the Southern depot
where they boarded the 2:45 p. m.
train for the Charleston exposition,
goingvia Atlanta. They left mid a
shower of rice.
After visiting the exposition for sev
eral days they will return, to the city,
and will be at home to their friends at
Mr. Bent Stovall’s, on Broad street, af
ter the 7th. instant.
The bride is a young lady of - many
attainments. She is possessed of a mod
est, refined Christian spirit and those
womanly traits which endear her to
all. She is esteemed by a large circle
of friends, who wish her every joy in
life.
Mr, StovaH is one of Gainesville’s
best young men. He is book-keeper
for Stovall & Co., and is prominent
in social and business life. His friends

Mr. A. J. Murphy died at his home
near BeUmont yesterday morning, aged
45 years. He leaves a wife and several
children. Remains will be buried, to
day at family burying ground.

guest of Atlanta friends this week.
