POM BELLTON/
. There was ah all-day singing at Enon
Sunday.
Thomas Carlton visited homefolks in
Franklin county last week. He re
turned home Sunday evening with a
blood hound that wouldn’t run a but
tered biscuit.
S'. Al Oliver has made a great im
provement over last week and is^ now
.on duty. *
Bellton is the best organ-ized town in
the South. Every house has an organ.
We regret shipping one away the other
day.
There is a man in town who says if a
certain candidate is elected his chick
ens will go also. '
We bet there is not a town on the
Southern R. R. which can furnish as
many dogs as Bellton.
Dr. Quillian has erected for himself
an office oyer Quillian Bros, store, and
is now busy practicing.
There is constantly being some one
held up near town by local highway- j
men. If the United States gets in war
with any other nation there is no doubt
but That Bellton will furnish some great
heroes.
W. H. Hill, who has been acting
agent here for the Southern R. R., has
accepted the agency at Norris^ S, C.
We have been very much charmed
here of late by the bells of Lula.
Race Wilson is now telegraphing be
tween Quillian’s gin and the church of
the colored folks.
Co). C. R. Faulkner’s organ is in need
of expert treatment. The tone has
been affected very much of ’ late by
playing hot tunes.

ARE YOU WISE anr»A 'T
IS WORTH READING.
0n the eighth page of this paper
will be found the speech of Col.
J. H. Estill delivered at Dahlon-
ega last week. It is a sound docu
ment and is worth reading. The
views ot this distinguished candi
date upon every issue in the state
campaign are honestly and com
prehensively set forth, and they
are, we dare say, the vibws of a
majority of the people of Georgia.
There is no demagoguery about
this speech, but a clear-cut, candid
expression of an honest man upon
the questions now claiming the
attention of the people, whose
snffrage he seeks for the highest
office within their gift.
The annul output of oranges m

1887 was $1,800,000. Now ,it is
$40,000,000.
He Kept His Leg.
Twelve years ago J. W. Sullivan, of
Hartford, Conn., scratched his leg with
a rusty wire. Inflammation and blood
poisoning set in/ For two years he suf-
fered intensely. Then the best doctors
urged amputation. “But,” he writes,
“I used one bottle of Electric Bitters
and ly£ boxes of Bucklen’s Arniea Salve
and my leg was sound and well as ever.”
For Eruptions, Eczema, Tetter, Salt
Rheum, Sores and all blood disorders

Commencement at Brenau.
Rev. W. H. Smith of Columbus, will
preach commencement sermon at Bre
nau on Sunday, May 25th. He is one of
the most distinguished preachers of the
South and the people have a treat in
store. Dr. W. W. Landrum will deliver
the annual literary address on Monday
morning, the 26th. The department of
oratory will give its usual entertain
ment on Monday evening and from the
wajr^that Miss Overton and her pupils
have been at work, it seems that this
will be the best of all recitals given by
the girls of this department. . Tuesday
evening will occur the graduating ex
ercises and the grand concert will be
given Tuesday evening, closing the
school year for 1901-02.
The junior class will give its usual
reception in honor of the seniors on
Thursday evening before commencer
ment. On Friday evening the present
senior class will give a banquet to the
trustees of the college and visiting
alumnae. This promises to be one of
the mostgpleasant features of the entire
commencement season. Great prepara-
tioi s are being made and the banquet
will be an elaborate affair. The pres- j
ent senior class is an unusually fine one ]
and under the efficient leadership of i
its, president, Miss Maggie Hair, has
made a most enviable record.
Altogether, the outlook is that this
will be an unusually pleasant com
mencement season. j
