NO AMOUNT OF MONEY IS TOO
SMALL TO BE SAVED.
r The idea that any sum of money can be ‘too
small to count” is an idea that keeps the money
lenders busy and the poorhouses full.
Don't think that the surplus you can save out
of your income is too small ever to amount to any
thing. It is not so much the amount you save as
the REGULARITY with which you save it, that
count*.
A dollar will start an account here.

HOW TO GET RID OF THE
RED SPIDER ON COTTON
This is a sacking insect. It is very
small, and lives on the under side of
the cotton leaves. It sucks the cot
ton leaf and for that reason poison
will not kill them. This pest can
easily be controlled by spraying the
under side of the cotton leaves with
kerosene emulsion which is niade as
follows:
Get two gallons of water with L v a
b<*t's of Octagon or the esjuivalerit of
any other laundry soap to boiling a&
all the soap will be dissolved'. While
this- is boiling pour in oho gallon of
kerosene oil and stir. Pour this mix
ture into another vessel and pump
thoroughly for not less than five
minutes, allowing the mixture to pour
back into the mixture. After it has
been pumped for this length of time
you should have a thick white mix
ture as the oil and water will be
emulsified. Add to this nine gallons
of cold water or enough to make
twelve gallons, and spray the under
side of the leaves.
If the pumping is done thoroughly
no free oil will rise after the mixture
is allowed to set for a while, and no
damage will be done to the cotton
leaves. If the mixing is not thor
oughly done there will be free oil
which will cause scorched spots on
the leaves. Care must be taken to
get this mixture in contact with the
insect to get results.
The red spider passes the winter
on the roots of polk stalks and violets
mostly. Persons or animals walking
through cotton will scatter it to all
parts of the fields.

County Agent.
