THE CUBS GET RESTLESS.
Sheriff Cosby’s pels, Haney and
Osborn got tired of the listless life
they were leading in jail and con
cluded to fry the ; r legs a little last
Friday. Tuey were confined in
the south room of the jail up stairs,*
which is not tegardeti as very sate
but is the most pleasant room in
the old building. Upon their
promise that they would iot at*
tempt to escape the Sheriff allowed
them to occupy that roon.
On Friday they b gait work
prizing out the stmes
of which the pardon wall is built
and soon had a hole big euough to
throw a dog through. /’bey*ther
entered the hall and attempted to
remove she grafß at the rear of
the jail but faildul and when the
sheriff' went to feed th.m Saturday
morning, they were lying quietly
in bed. When asked about trying
to escape, they sta ed tha/ they
di;t not expect togei out but were
only pulling the rocks about for
exercise. The Sheriff has con
eluded to let them exercise in the
du'igeon iu the future.
