AN OLD MAN SHOT;
Last Saturday while an old gen
tleman by the name of Worthey,
and his son-in-law, were out huut
mg, the premtiure discharge of a
gun, inflicted a severe wound in
the arm of the old man, breaking
the bone of the fore arm. It is
decidedly a painful wound, but a/
last accounts, be was resting easy.
ANOTHER IMPROVEMENT.
Mr. L. A. Sharp, of Cor.qers,
has decided to come to Lawrence
ville, and put up a livery and sale
stables. It wili be located on /he
corner in front of Mr. Zfo.n’s res
idence. Our town has for a long
needed some such accommoda

DEATH OF MRS AORTON.J
Mrs. Mahals Norton, widow of
Rev. Elias Norton, died last
Wednesday and
was Lutieu in the cemetery at
Lawrenceville on Thursday.
This aged woman hai lived in
the county for about three score
years, and was well known to all
of /he older citizens. She belong
edloafoimer generation and for
years has lived a retired life with
her sou, seldom goiu • out in pub
lie. She was sick but a short
time.

A FRIGHTFUL RUNAWAY

towu, in charge of a negro boy by
the name of Miitou Hanis, and a
son of Mr. Jack Casey, the coup
ling tongue of the wagon broke,
which frightened the mules, who
made a dash, and soon became un.

Tne negro in his efforts to stop
the team was hurled to the ground
and seriously hurt about the hips.
Young Casey attempted to jump
oat, sud he too, was considerably
bruised. The wagon was torn-en
tirely to pieces, fortunately there
was no Oiher damage done.

have for the last year been doing
a good business in our town, have
sold out to Mr John H.* Alrnand,
of one of the partners in
the business, who will take entire
charge and continue the business
of the firm.
Mr. Rich yflmand, the active
member of th > old firm, will re
turn to Conyers, while Mr. Gus
Alrnand will remain as book-keep
er. While we regret to loose Mr.
Rich Alrnand, wuo, with his esti
mable wife, have made themselves
popular with our people, we are
giatified to greet Mr. John A. Al
mand as a citiz n of oar town.
He is a live, progressive man.

tuck charge of the wagon and got
all of the blockade liquor we want
