SIXTEEN REASONS.
1 attended church on rainy Sun
days because
1. God has blessed the Lord s
day xnd hallowed i', making no
exceptions for rainy Sundays.
2 1 expect my mil istor to be
there. I should be surprised if
he were to stay at home for the
we ther.
3. If his bauds fail through
weakness, l shall have great rea
son to blame myself unless I su
tain him by my prayers and my
presence.
4. By staying away I may lose
the prayers which may bring God’
blosping, and the sermon that
would have done m great good
5. My presence is more needfm
on Sundays when there are few
than on (hose days w' en the
church is crowded.
6. Whatever station I bold in
the church, my example must in
fluence others. If I stay away,
why may not they?
7. On any important business,
rainy weather does not keep me at
home, and church attendance is,
in God's sight, very important.
8 Among the crowds of p eas
ureseekerb, I see that no weather
keeps the delicate female from the
ball, the party, or tlie concert.
9. Araqng other blessings, such
weather will show tue on what
foundation my fath is built. It
will prove liow much I love Christ.
True love rarely fails to meet an
appointment
10. Those who stay from church
because it is too warm, or too c >lcl
or too rainy, frequently a isont
themselves cn fair Sundays.
11. Though my excuses satisfy
myself, they still must under to
God's scrutiny; and they must bo
well grounded to bear iliat. (Luke
14 :18.)
12. There is a special promise
that, where two or three meet to
gether in God's name, Ho will be
ih the midst of them.
13. An avoidable absence from
the church is aD infallible ivideuce
of smritnal decay. Disciples lirst
follow Christ at a distance, and
then, like peter do not know him.
14. My faith is to be shown by
my self-denying Christian life, and
not by the rise or fall of the ther
mometer.
15. Such yielding to surmounta
ble difficulties prepares for yield
ing to those merely imaginary,
until thousands never enter a
church, and yet think they have
good reason for such neglect.
16.1 know not how many mote
Sundays God may give me, and it
would be a poor preparation for
my first Sunday in Heaven, to
ha»e slighted y last Sunday on
earth.—Frances R, Havergal.

Warren Lelano,
whom everybody knows as the successful
manager of the
Largest Hctel Enterprises
cf America, says that while a passenger from
New York on board a ship going around Capo
Horn, in the early days of emigration to Cal
ifornia, he learned that oue of the officers of
the vessel had cured himself, during the voy
age, of an obstinate disease by the use of
Ayers Sarsaparilla.
Since then Mr. Leland has recommended
Ayer’s Sarsaparilla in many similar
cases, and he has never yet heard of its fail
ure to etfect a radical cure.
Some years ago one of Mr. Leland’s farm
laborers bruised his leg. Owing to the bat*
state of his blooci. an ugly scrofulous swelling
or lump appeared on vhe injured limb. Hor
rible Itching of the skin, with burning and
darting pains through the lump, made life
almost intolerable. The leg became enor
mously enlarged, and running ulcers formed,
discharging great quantities of extremely
offensive matter. No treatment was of any
avail until tl:e man, by Mr. Le land’s direc
tion, was supplied 3 tli Ayer’s Sarsapa
rilla, which allayed the pain and irritation,
healed the sores, removed the swelling, and
completely restored the limb to use.
Mr. Leland has personally usod
Ayers Sarsaparilla
for Rheumatism, with entire success ; and,
after careful observation, declares that, in
his belief, thor. is no medicine iu the world

rheumatism, gout, disordered liver,

the reverse of what it should be, the

some stimulating stuff, and call it

An enormous amourt' of tnischiei
is constantly done oy men who
thus trifle with themselves. Instead
of healing their diseases,they make
them worse. Instead of gaining

It is a point worth noting in con

that this valuable tnedi ine is not
sold in bar-rooms, and will not lie.
It is not a drink. It is a remedy.
It is not made to tickle the palate
of old topers. It is made to heal

Perhaps that seems a high price
for it, considering how poor your
blood is, mid how your whole sys
tem is prostrated, debilitated, and
enfeebled. People have been heard
to say, under such circumstances,
that they would not give the toss
of a copper for the choice between
life and death. But when it comes
to actually drawing near the grave,
a man 'naturally draws back, and
says he does no s -'ant to die. Life
is very precious, even to a bro
ken-down,man it is worth saving,
One dollar will buy 1 a bottle ol
Browns Iron Bitters. That one
dollar may start you on the road
from misery to recovery. A man
must take a very mean view ol
himself who is not willing to invest
that much in making one serious
effort to rescue himself from deadly
debility, and utep into the en
joyment of solid health. Brown s
Iron Bitters vitalizes tne blood,
tones the nerves, and rebuilds the
system Its wc.’- is well known.

In this country we are all kings,
and we are all entitled to have as
good blood as that which courses
through the veins of emperors.
There are princes and million
aires, languishing in feebleness and
broken-down bodily health, who
would be glad to have the strength
of the humblest laboring man.
And there are many people who
are neither kings, emperors, nor
millionaires, whose blood is thin,
whose circulation is poor, who art.
suffering from lassitude and debil
ity, and who know not the pleasure
fol a hearty nttal nor the enjoy
