Those who keep up with de
velopments relative to the propos
ed Jacksonville-Vialdosta Short
Route will be glad to kupw that
a group of influential men of Du
val county are endeavoring to
have the Florida part of the pro
posed road placed in the prefcren
tial tist, It is understood further
that two of the Florida Rep.esent
atives have expressed themselves
as being heartily in favor of- the
move,
No news is generally under
stood to mean . good news and if
we have omitted mention ofxfiu in
our lown it was because there
was none so mention. We note
in last weeks paper that our
Editor stated that the St. George
schooi had adjourn=d, "as condi
tions are also bad there”. With a
word of apology to our Editor
and, with our fingers carefully
placed on wood in the old accept
ed rashion, we wish to emphicatilly
s‘ate that conaitions are not bad
in St, George. And in the same
breath we give fervent thanks for
same. We understood that the
adjournment of school was almost
entirely a precauctionary move.
\lt was thought unwise to begin
school in face of a threatened epe

journ, 3
- Dr, Prescott has stated time and
again that he had but one houn
est to goodness case of fiu and
that was on the Florida side. Dr
Prescott states that he is dismiss
g all cases on the Fiorila side,
and characterized them as coids
ana bilous spells, with the excep
tion of one or two cases of pneu
monia. Also one or two pneu
monia cases at Maoniac, all of
which have responded nicely to
serum trealment,
For St. George locality there
have heen no serious cases in
town. Several families through
the country have been ill with
colds but the cases are not under
stgod to be flu and all are le
covering promptly, One lady
suggests that the cases are most
lv colds, brought on from a bilious
conditioe as a result of to much
pork eating at hog kiliing time,
and we expect she is about cor
vect.
