L. E. Eargle killed one of the largest
snakes seen in this section. It meesured
six feet and three and one-half inchs.in
length, three and one-half inches in di
ameter, and weighed seven and one-half
pounds. It was killed on Mr. John F.
Thompson’s place, pear Douglasville.
The board of education is being be-
seiged with applicants for the position of
president of the Douglasville College.
The board is going slow, but when they
do act the people of Douglasville and
surrounding’ country can rest assured,
they the College will have at its head a
man capable of manageing and also
building it up.

Mrs. H. 15. Roberts, of Cordele, was
called to the bedside of her Sister, Mrs.
C;. G: Garrett, who we regret to say is
still very sick.
The usual number of DoUglasvillians
working in Atlanta, spent Sunday here
withjthe old folks. Some of them were
looking after the young folks too.

TRIBUTE OF RESPECT.
Uncle John Kennedy is dead. A good
and noble man is gone. He was a good
father, a devoted husband and a useful
citizen.
He was born September 29, 1835 and
was happily married to Miss Hester A.
Dorris who preceded him to the better
world about ten years ago. Unto him and
his faithful wife were born four child
ren—three daughters and one son. The
son died when a child,
