Plow man, President, and J. Roun tree, Secretary of the Bankhead Highway Association, held conference yesterday with the Alabama State Highway comiss- fon in regard to ensuring Feder al aid under the Bankhead good roads Appropriation Bill to be ap plied cm the Bankhead Highway which traverses nine counties of Alabama 'rom the 'Geoagia to the Mississippi line. They were (given every assurence by the comission that the Bankhead Hi ghway would be included in. the line of highways in Alabama and that it would redteve due con :id- eretion and as madh appropriati on as any other highway in the State. After consulation with a num her of county Vice Presidents of the Bankhead Highway Associa tion it was decided to ask the State Highway Commission tn make an appropriation of $20,000 for the Bankhead Highway in each of the nine counties. The Commission will take up this matter at their next regular meeting in Montgomery on Feb 10. President Plowman is very much gratified at the enthusias tic reports and letters that have been receivedfey Secretary Romi free from good road boosters it Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas New Mexico, Arizona and Cala forilia in regard to buildin" <h- Bankhead Highway from Mem phis f. Los Angeles. A confer ence will be held in Memphis during the next thirty days in regard to organizing Bankhead Highway Associations in each <Jf the five western States so that they will be represented at the annual meeting of the national association, which meets in Birm ngham on Thursday, April 19th. A similar conference will be held in Atlanta with good road boosters from the States of Geor gia, South and North Carolina and Virginia to take steps to ex tend this highway from Atlanta to Washington. Splendid reports continue to come in regard to the enthusiasm that is being worked up in Geor gia, Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee over this highway. Bankhead Highway Association. J. A.
