Hamilton, Miss Gladys Stewart visited her mother at the Sanitarium in Atlahta Saturdoy. Fred Duncan came home from Auburn Monday! and returned Tuesday. Mrs. 0. T. Kirby of the Jonesboro News, spent the week end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J Kirby. T. D, Pickell returned Sunday from a convention of Hosiery Mills held in Philadelphia last week. Mrs. J. E. Phillips and Mrs. J. C. Wright visited T. H. Phillips at the training camp Wednesday. Mrs. A. De La Perriere of Hoschton, is with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Phillips for several days. Miss Lettie Abercrombie en tertained the Senior Class with a spend the night party Wedens- diy. Mrs. W. J. Hall of Villa Rica, and Mrs. J. L. Powers of Car rollton, were guests this week of Mr. aud Mrs. H. G. Hall. Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Hopkins of Palmetto, visited their son, E. L, Hopkins,, last Saturday and Sun day. Friends are glad to learn that the operation of Mrs F. M. Stew art at Davis-Fischer Sanitarium last week-was a success and she is rapidly recovering. We have learned with pleasure that Leonard James, who held a non-commissioned officer’s place with the 6th Regiment, has been recommended for promotion. Mrs. Hannah has returned to her home at Salisburg, N. C., after spending several weeks here with her mother, Mrs, M. E.^Ward. B. P. Green, Superintendent of Central Sunday school, made us a pleasant visit Tuesday and re ports their school in a flourishing condition. Two convicts escaped from the Douglas County gang Sunday night. They were Luther Evans and Will Starr, both colored and both serving time for man slaughter, ^ Hon, L. C. Upshaw delivered the Literary address at Temple High School Commencement Monday night. He was accom panied by Mrs. Upshaw. Miss M rjorie Upshaw enter- ained the Senior Class at a spend-the-night party Saturday and Miss Eddie Maye Morris en tertained them Monday night.
