Miss Gladys Stewart has re turned from a pleasant visit with friends at Rockmart. Fred Duncan returned home Monday from a week’s stay in New York- The bright Star Sunday school will celebrate Children’s Day next Sunday. Mrs. Sheldon, Mrs. Moore and Miss Hattie Whitley of Atlanta, are guests of Mrs. G. H. Turner. Dr. J. L. Selman has just re turned from a visit to his son, Dr. Guy Selman, at Nashville, Ga. John Burton of Nashville. Tenn., is spending several davs here with relatives. Mrs. B. F. Burton is spending several days in Atlanta with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Garth, Mr. and Mrs. N. B. Duncan and Mrs; Z. T. Dake motored to Atlanta Wednesday. G. E. Merritt of Atlanta, spent part of this week here as a guest of Col. Astor Merrett. Clifford Darden left Wednes day for Union Point to attend the marriage of his brother, Miss Pauline Selman is spend: ing some time with friends and relatives at Nashville, Ga. Misses Minnie McLarty and Mittie Palmer will leave Friday for South Georgia and Florida for a ten days’ vacation. - Mrs. Martha Pickell and Mrs. Goodwin of Lenoir City, Tenn., are guests of their sons, T. D. Pickell and W. L. Goodwin. Mrs. G. B. Lindsey of Atlanta, spent the week end here with the families of Messrs. H. M. and L. C. Upshaw. Misses Marjorie Upshaw and Bessie Roberts left Monday for a two weeks’ summer course in the G. N & I. C., at Mttledge- ville. The ladies of Missionary Circle y.-'No. 1, of the Methodist church will sell ice cream and cake on the court house lawn July 4th. Mrs. Halcomb is reported quite sick thi3 week at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. G. H. Turner. Hon L. Z. Dorsett of Carroll ton, was in Douglasville Wednes day, and while here paid the Sentinel office a pleasant visit. Rev. J. C. Atkinson accompa nied the Boy Scouts to Atlanta /Wednesday to get their u niforms. V We expect to see a soldierly look ing buneh of boys in a few days. Miss Frankie Bridell gave a miscellaneous shower Wednesday honor of Mrs. F. M. Winn, Jr. who was the recipient of a great variety of useful presents. Col Hutcheson spent Monday and Tuesday at Cedartown at tending an adjourned term of court. He will have no other court duties before July. .The Drum and Bugle Corps of jfne Georgia Industrial Home of \y Macon, will give a free concert at the School Auditoaium next Tuesday night. Hear them. He has with him Messrs, Roger Daisly of Brooklyn, and Miguel Romas of Havanah. The latter will spend the summer Studying under Mr. Duncan There are five applicants for the position of letter carrier for the town of Douglasvills. All are good men but only one can be selected and Postmaster Selman thinks he had as soon serve on the exemption board as to make the choice from among his friends, Misses Opal Duncan. Nannie Love and Ruth Selman, Louise Upshaw, Rose Abercrombie, Lil lian Dake, Gladys Stewart, and Messrs. Justice Gower, Fred Abercrombie, T. D. Pickell, J. L. Dorris and Robt. Duncan, chaperoned by Mrs. Martha Pickell, enjoyed a picnic at Fac tory Shoals Tueshay. To The Citizens of Doug las County I have been requested by the War Department to ask the citi zens of Douglas county to report to me at once of any person with' in their knowledge who was sub ject to registration and failed to register on June 5th. The list of those who registered will soon be published, and it is your duty to get a list and chick each man in your district or anywhere else and report to me if you find any slackers.
