Selman sj Atlanta were week end visitors here. The Editor desires to thank Mr. D. W. Daniell for a nice basket of peaches las; week. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Lawson of Coffee Springs Ala, are visit ing relatives here. Miss Grace Howell, of Atlanta is the guest of Mrs. S. E. John, ston this week. Home grown water mellons are now on the market and they are unusally fine. Misses Florence and Carolyn Hutcheson are visiting in Drake- town this week, Miss Esther Hutcheson of was a guest of Col. and Mrs. ,J, R. Hutcheson last week. Mrs. E. M, Peterson'.returned home Mooday after spending a week with relatives in Villa Rica W. J. Hall and daughters, Misses Ruby and Willie were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs H, G. Hall, Mr. and Mrs. C. N. Cook of Finleyson are here with the latt- ers parents Mr, and Mrs. T. S. Butler. Dr. R, S, Maneely of Atlanta has taken charge of the Douglas ville Drug Co. He opened ready lor business Saturday. *C. V, Gattis and children of Hellena are spending some tin. e here with relatives. He reports fine crops in his section. . Misses Louise and Marjorie TJpshaw returned Wednesday, after spending several days with relatives in College Park. Miss Gertrude Ellis has re turned to her home in Birming ham after a week’s visit with Miss Lillian Dake. Messrs Luther and Frank Dorris left this week for Port Royal S. C. to train for Ma ri nes- T, D. Pickell was the recipient of a handsome present from the employees of the Hosiery Mill before his departure last week. Dr. and Mrs, J. E. Ward of Cordele who are spending some time in Austell were the guerts Thursday of their mother Mrs. M. E. Ward. Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Almand Mrs, J. R. McKoy, Mrs. S. E. Johnston and Miss Grace Howell enjoyed a fishing trip pn Sweet water Wednesday. The “Fa Sol La” singing here Sunday was well attendes and was an enjoyable occasion for ahe old tieme singers. Henry Hopkins has returned home after spending several weeks with his grand parents at Palmetto. Mr. and Mrs Emmett Suther land and Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Freemen of Jonesboro motored to Douglasville fdr the week end Messrs J. S. Abercrombie and Herman Harper have just retur ned from Tennessee where they bought 23 head of short horn cattle which they are putting on their farm for breeders, they expect to return to Tennessee soon for several more. , Friends of MissesRudie Glover and Annie Belle Butler will find them at 39-41 Whitehall St. Where they have accepted a position as salesladies with S. Pickell who has been Superentendent of the Douglas Hosiery Mills for some time has severd his connection with it and is now connected witn the Lnox Hosiery Mills of ClevelandTenn.
