the following report:
e jouuvviun *•,
We find that the jail has recently been repaired and is in very
good condition and sanitary. We find the court house roof nad

same to be fixed at once. Also that the commissioners have the
doors down stairs repaired and outside wails be pointed up where
mortar has rotted out and have entire woodwork outside and
inside repainted so as to preserve same and plastering wht re off
inside repaired and tinted w'ithgood fiat wall paint. Wo also rec
ommend that the commissioners have cement walks built on the
north and south sides of building leading to sidewalks, and short
walks circling on northeast and southeast corners to connect all
together, and do the necessary grading io put grounds in good
shape and turn the keeping of the grounds over to the ladies of
the Civic League, who have agreed to keep it up so it will be a
credit to the county. We also recommend that a compete: 1 man

Ordinary Doug as County, Ga.
We, the committee appointed to examine the County Commis
sioners books, find the above statement true, as per their books.
Respectfully submitted,
The body visited the pauper farm and found seven inmates:
Six women and one man We found the building had several leaks
in it, also found supplies to cover same. Mr. Gresham staiedtliat
ihe building would have been covered had it not been for scarcity
of labor. We recommend that the house ee cleaned from under,
also top put on well and two closets installed. Wereconmend
new floor to be put in Superintender.l’s house, both front veranda
and middle bed room, and one new sash and glasses in shed room;
Also leak fixed around stove flue. We find that there have been
two deaths at the farm since the last report. The Superintendent
had an average of nine since his last report, and that his expenses
were $222 19 as per vouchers, an average of $4.11 each per
month. The body considered the farm wasin a very bad shape, and
in a general run-down condition. We recommend that the County
Commissioners take charge of the farm and raise such supplies as
can be raised consistently with the law for the benefit of the pau
pers and convict camp.
