With foodstuffs sky high and
Woolen goods demanding exorhi
tant prices every farmer should
lxave a flock of sheep.
The editor has recently been
well remembered by his friends
with ‘‘taters.” It we just had a
'possum we could have “ ’possum
and ’taters.”
In his speech last Saturday,
Hon. Cam Dorsey said: ‘‘The
man who can buy a Liberty Bond
and don’t is not necessarily a
traitor but surely a slacker.”
Douglasville merchants are
taxed to their capacity to wait
on their trade these days. One
firm last Friday paid out more
than $7,500 for cotton and on
Saturday the same firm paid out
more than $13,000.
Senator Hardwick in his Millen
speech last week said the war
with Germany was right and
just and bitterly denounced those
who accused him of lack of pat
riotism, but the people are in
clined to believe in theold adage:
■"Actions speak louder than
words.”
We notice our friend Freeman,
«f the Jonesboro News, copies
with presumable approval the
Macon Telegraph’s attack on
Congressman Vi illiam Schley
Howard f.r thinking of entering
the senatorial race. They say
that minnows should not mess
up the bait when pike were stri
ving for the fight. We are aware
that from the Telegraph’s stand
point nothing good could come
from Atlanta and then we won
der if Brother Freeman's friend.
Bob Blackburn, is the pike in his
mind; and when we reflect that a
pike is a varacious fresh water
lish with a narrow elongated
pointed head, we are willing to
leave itwithout further comment.
