visit with relatives in East Ten
nessee.
Mrs. F. M. Winn, Jr., and
Miss Emma Lott attended the
John McCormack concert in
Atlanta Mondav.
Miss Pearl Price came home
from Calhoun to spend the week
end with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. D. W, Price,
Tobe Brighrm, (col.) was ex
hibiting a hen hawk here last
Thursday that measured 4 ft. 7
in, from tip to tip,

to hear Billy Sunday.
J. H. Thomas moved from
Winston to Douglasville ths
week to the house he recently
bought on Chicago avenue.
We are sorry to report that
owing to contuined illness Mrs.
J. E. Davis had to be taken to
an Atlanta Sanitarium this week.

Lessie, who is visiting relatives

Messrs. J. F. Freeman and
Rader Johnston have resigned
as carriers on Routes 3 and 1 and
Messrs. Bob Lee Huey and Rob
ert McKoy are supplying at
present.
Douglasville had planned to go
to Atlanta in full force Thursday
to hear Billy Sunday—about
thirty automobiles in a body—
but reservations could not be
secured.
We neglected to explain last
week that the Thanksgiving
story written by Master E'vin
Duncan was selected by his tea
cher from a cla?s paper and
handed by her to the editor.
Among the soldier boys visit
ing here last week were Lieute.
Phillips and James, Sergeant T.
D. Pickell and R. S. Duncan,
Sanford Land, Henry Holland,
Clyde Eskew, Thad Kilgore, Fred
Abercromoie, and perhaps others
whose names we failed to get.

Just before going to press
we learn that a serious freight
wreck occurred near Waco this
(Thursday) morning resulting in
the death of an engineer and
two or three others sei i jusly
h irr.
First leports reaching here
were to the effect that it was a
soldier train and that doctors
had been sent for from all sur
rounding towns, but the latest
we get is about as given above.

Last Sunday, at the home of
the bride’s parents, Mr. and
Mrs. W, T. Rowland, Miss Lena
Rowland was united in marriage
to Mr. Eddie Ragsdale, Rev. S.
T. Gillard officiating.
Quite a number of the imme
diate relatives only, were in at-
t mdance, and after the cere
mony a wedding supper was en
joyed.

performed the ceremony. The
