Business in every line was never better than now, 'and the live

The Walter L. Main circus, which will exhibit here next Thurs

With increased automobile : trafic and careless driving, railroad
(jradc crossings are becoming more of a menace every year. Road
construction in the future should be done with a view to eliminating
fhem. Grade crossings are becoming regular death traps.
With cotton selling above 37 cents Douglasville has been about
the busiest place oh the map this week. Even the merchant who
doesn’t advertise gets some business—the live one having rrtore than
ke can look' after: ’ v " ■ !
There is,still hope for Jack Patterson, the confirmed bachelor
of the Covihgtdn News. We saw him laft Friday in Lakewood

Two deaths occurred in Atlanta last week from drinking “blind
♦iger” whiskey. It is time people we're’ Ifearn'ihg enough sense to
quit drinking; jhe $tuf/. The . man , who sells it is an outlaw and
tares nothing about whether it kills you or not, so he gets a few
Hollars in the transaction.
iWe look eAgerly foi the latter days'of the week,- when the weekly

It’s a trip over the state and you’re among the best folks too.

Monroe has the reputation of being the biggest advertising town
5n the state, according to the population. Two good papers are
published there each week with never less than twenty pages and
chocked full of advertising. Few towns the size of Douglasville
show a more enterprising set of merchants, though there are a few
here who say they have nothing to advertise. We persume they
have nothing to sell.
Organized labor is becoming the greatest, trust we have, today
and should be dealt with accordingly. When labof was underpaid
and a strike was ordered to enable them to get a decent wage, they
had the sympathy of the public, but when the coal miners, who are
now flush with money threaten the comfort of the whole people as
cold weather approaches, with no.reason except they, only want to
work five days and receive pay for six, they should and will get
scant sympathy fromi the public.
