REAL SOUTHERN CORNBREAI)
In vain do Dearch the cook books
for a lecipe that conforms to one I
used when making the best cornbread
to be had from fresh corn meal. I
know there can be none better than
the bread I make; so I shall offer my
recipe to your readers:
One quart of sifted cornmeal,one
teaspoonful salt, one teaspoonful su
gar, one generous tablespoonful lard.
Mix with boiling water until all the
dry meal is absorbed, then add a half
teacupful to soften the mixture a lit
tle.
Mold the dough into four or five
loaves onto a hot greased griddle.
Rake in a hot oven, perferably on
the racks as it will brown more quick
ly there and should be finished on the
floor of the oven. Eaten while hot
with butter, it is simply delicious.—

Almand & McKoy
embrace all the world’s foremost cir
cus performers. There are three
hours of novelties and big sensational
acts. The menagerie is far and away
the most colossal ever traveled. For
instance—a herd of eight giraffs are,
exhibited in place of the two or three
shown in the past. The great tour
nament which opens the main-tent
program, is the most magnificent
thing in pageantry yet produced in
America. Hundreds upon hundreds
of gorgeously costumed characters
and beautiful horses take part in v it.
The morning stjBt parade id the
longest and most brilliant ever give!
anywhere. It is a stupendous, super
circus that .H&ffles description.
AN AVENUE FOR SERVICE
(Continued from first page)
handling.
The greatest avenue/of service either
by govern men or business today is to
reduce the handling of commodities be
tween producer and consumer, cut
down the middlemen, and thereby low
er retail costs. If a farmer raises
food, which, passes through six hands
before it is sold to the housewife the
ultimate cost is higher than if it only
had to pass through two.
Forge a direct c< nrrection between
producer and consumer. That’s the
avenue for economic development of
tomorrow. Exactly how this shall be
done in tho extremely complex com
mercial organizations of our present
arrangements is hard to say offhand,
but there is a way. Bring the producer
closer o the manufacturer, the farmer,
and the producer of all kinds. It will
mean lower prices.

Another Remarkable Offering of
WIRTHMOR SILK BLOUSES
—that again evidences the marked
superiority of our Blouse values.
Our Blouse buying connections are such that we are able to repeatedly offer such
very remarkable and out-of-the ordinary values as to convincingly prove the economiifis
and advantages of coming here to gratify your every Blouse need.
This new offering of WIRTHMOR SILK BLOUSES demonstrated most forcefully
the decided pre-eminence of our Blouse values; and the very great savings that we are
abie to effect fer our patrons through certain fortunate sources of supply.
The materials out of which these Blouses are fashioned have advanced from 75
to 100% in excess over the price paid many months ago, and the selling price to us,
and in turn to you is based on the original cost of the fabrics.
With the makers of WIRTHMOR BLOUSES, as well as with the public spirited
stores wherein these Blouses are sold, price advances despite market conditions ire
never made until they are inevitable. It is because of this policy, and the fact that
the WIRTHMOR plan makes possible afc all times values that aretruly superior, that we
take a genuine pride in the EXCLUSIVE sale of these deservedly-popular Blouses. —
