Having experienced more than three
thousand strikes since the armistice,
the American public now hears of a
great super-strike, to include miners,
railroad men, longshoremen, printers,
and all other groups that can be in
duced to join. This is a big under
taking, and organized labor risks its
own life when it attmts to throttle
entirely the life of the nation.
It is easy to guess what would hap
pen in such an emergency. Old friends
of the unions, and all new ones, would
be compelled to rally with the forces
of the government to beat the strike,
because it would mean life or death.
The business of the nation would be
paralyzed, no doubt, but volunteers
would spring up everywhere to do the
necessary • work that would prevent
the coercion of the entire population
by a minority.
A prominent authority is “rather
hoping that it will be attempted” as
it would do more to clear the atmos
phere than anything else that could
occur. Labor leaders with the ideas
of ruling the government, would find
out where the public stands. Few
thinking people have any fear of a
general strike. Society will find an
efficient way to protect itself, and
the strike would henceforth lose lots of
its terrors.

THE SHORTAGE OF SUGAR
The sugar shortage, in the oinion
of those who know the trade, is the
greatest ever known. Meltings have
been brought to a standstill by the
strike of marine workers who have
tied up some twenty steamers loaded
with raw sugar. In Cuba Sugar Man
ufacturers’ and Planters’ Associa
tion has issued a manifesto insisting
upon an open market for sugar, stat
ing that one million tons remain to be
cut, and 400,000 tons of raw awaits
shipment.
The shortage is expected to go into
next year. Just exactly why the short
age occurred in such stringent fashion
is not altogether clear, although there
has been a tremendous increase in
the amount of sugar consumed in this
country. That most of it is unneces
sary consumption, and that we can
do without it, does not lessen the de
mand. It is estimated that the United
States uses one fourth of the world’s
sugar. This year vve will consume
9,000,000,000 pounds instead of the
8,000,000,000 used last year. This is
$ per capita consumption of almost
'f|'etghty-thr6B''T’0trnd^ ^Tir 187frr when
sugar was supposed to be bad for the
teeth, we «sed thirty-three pounds
per capita per year.

NOT SICK
ANDJOT WELL
li’Tlit Peculiar Situation Described,
ZIRON Iran Tonlo Is Found Helpful.
It often happens that the organs of your
body do not function properly, for some
reason or other. There Is nothing really
wrong, and you are not slat. But cer
tainly you are ncrt well, either.
If you are in such a condition, read
what Mr. Wm. M. Bass, RL l.CrossvUle,
Ala., did. and try Ziron Iron Tonic, as
be did. Mr. Bass says:
“I am nearly always pretty well and
strong and do not need much medicine
excepting lor headaches. But, recently,
when I had not been feeling very well
for a while, I knew I needed some sort
of medicine to make me all right.
I took Ziron and it made me strong and
well again."
Ziron puts Iron into the blood, and, by
doing this, may prevent a serious attack
ol illness, which you are liable to “catch”
at any time it your system is weakened
or your condition below par,
Ziron has well proven its value as a
tonic. Try it when you feel the least bil
out of sorts, apt quite as good as usual,
tired and weary.
Your druggist sells Ziron on a money-
back guarantee. ZN 10

one of the most widely used tonic, strength
and blood builders in the world, so that the
public may examine it for themselves and
judge as to its merits.
It is conservatively estimated that tins re
markable formula is now being used by over
3,000,000 people annually in America alone.
Among those who have used and strongly
endorse it are many physicans formerly con
nected with well-known hospitals, former
United States Senators, members of Con
gress, and former Health Officials..
Newspapers everywhere are invited to
copy this statement for the benefit of their
readers. It is suggested that physicians, make
a record of it and keep it in their of
fices so that they may intelligently answer
questions of patients concerning it. Every
body is advised to cut it out and keep it. A
copy of the actual sworn statement will he
sent to anyone who desires such. It is as
