Cleaning House
Some party callers are too tnreadbarc to be sent to the
laundry.
The grouch must be self-made, as the Lord makes all
things perfect.
Profiteers do not wear masks, as they can be spotted in
some amen corners.
We may be a trifle cranky, but object to being attached
to a hand organ.
“Can fish smell?" asks the Savannah News. Depends on
the weather and the price.
How ran a fellow be constantly giving and keep up a farn-
'y'ily with the high cost of living?
A fashion note says that dresses will come higher. Hope
not, as we will be a ward of the county.
If Lodge is to be the keynote man of the republican party
they will need a brass sounding hoard.
The sweet girl graduate is here with her smiles and frills,
but poor old dad smileth not—he pays the bills.
j The weather for the past few days has been like the sub-
'"scription of some of our delinquents—unsettled.
Detectives say prohibition has made thieves “slitskcr.”
Didn’t know lard was one of the ingredients of the present brew.
With woman’s rigging at high prices, we have about come
to the conclusion that what Sherman said of war is also true
of married life.
•Prices in this country now arc just about as unstable as
a Hurst newspaper.—Dalton Citizen. Or the predittion of
the weather man.
Some fellows sing “Oh, Flow T Love Jesus," but at the same
time never contribute a penny to the church. A tree is generally
judged by its fruits.
Thev ra- the r-rice of wives has doubled in South Africa.
And here we were thinking they were happy because they didn’t
have to wear clothes.
J When a Douglasville woman visits the dry goods store
oftener than she visits the grocery the chances are hubby cats
at a restaurant as often as he can.
Nothing ; s more p'tiful than fossilized fanoticism—Dal
ton Citizen. Yes, there is. The-cheap salaried guy who tries
to keep up with the Jones’, for instance.
There mav not be an over-production of the things we
need this year, hut we won’t be able to say as much about politi
cal arguments between now and November.
IVtir, has ruined fany good men, and made d—n fools
of more, says the Dalton Citizen.—Yes. and politics also some
times turn the skeleton in the closet loose to the disparagement
of the possessor.
Two masked bandits succeded in operating $],8oo worth
in New York city Thursday.—Columbus Inquirer-Sun. That’s
nothing, we have a bank cashier in a small Georgia town who
operated $30,000 single-handed.
DAUGHTERS OF REVOLUTION
ENDORSE “NEAR EAST RE-
RELIEF’
The Daughters of the American' Re.
volution at their recent annual con
vention in Washington endorsed the
work of the American Committee for
NeaT East Relief in the following res.
olution:
“THEREFORE, be it RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Daugh
ters of the American Devolution, in
heritors of the colossal courage and
faith which our forefathers displayed
when they, out of weakness, founded
our Great Republic, do this 20th day
of April in the Year of our Lord, 1920,
in Congress assembled, heartily en
dorse the work of the “National Near
Tast Relief,” specially chartered by
Congress for rescue and reconstruc
tion activities and we approve of
vzahtever action they (The United
States Congress) consider necessary
to protect American institutions, prop
erty and relief workers in the Near
East, and we further recommend to
the Chapters cf the D. A. R, that
they make this a special feature of
their work for the coming year.”—
