THE FOURTH
These arc busy days for Douglas -
ville citizens, but not so much bo they
cannot spare a few hours to celebrate,
in some manner, the birthday of their
country—the greatest nation in the
world—-a nation made great by a peo
ple who put love of liberty and home
above all else earthly.
The Glorious Fourth, as we shall
always know it, finds us in the midst
of a bountiful harvest*, and happy in
the knowledge that once again thj
fruits of our labors are abundant. We
have gone gone about our way in
peace since last we ce’ebrated this
holiday, and we have refused to Ind
an ear to the alien agitator who would
pull down all the work achieved by
America’s sons and daughters through
out almost'five centuries of honest
unstinted toil. Wc have met great
problems and, while their solution has
not been complete, we have demon
strated our ability as a people to bear
VACATION SEASON
With the first real summer weather
upon us, the thoughts of vacation
trips comes crowding in on those who
are fortunate enough to be able to
enjoy scenery different from that in'
which the biggest part of their lives
arc spent. Thousands are loading:
up their motor cars with camping
outfits and happy family parties are
starting out east, west, north or south.
In reasonable weather no more en-1
joyable outing could be imagined. It j
is good to leave the cares of business,
and labor behind, and for the Doug-!
lasville man or woman who likes to I
rough it, and who has an auto, this.
is the ideal way to spend a vacation.
The cost is little more than main-1
taining the home establishment. Sup-1
plies -and gasoline are always within 1
reach.
But there is one precaution that
all tourists should take, especially if
accompained by children, and that
problem. But It will not take chances
only at springs or wells known to
contain no seeds of disease solves the
on getting hold of impure water,
since the danger from typhoid is al
ways so groat at this time. Be sure
of your water supply, do not over
eat, drive moderately, breathe deeply
and rest often, and you will have an
enjoyable vacation.
