ligent children and the parents are
proud of them.

Mr. R. D. Gowan spent part of
the holidays with his good wife and
baby in Montgomery county, who
arc visiting Mrs. Go wan’s father.
Mr. B. F. Ward and family left
for Florida Wednesday, to the re¬
gret of their many friends here. Mr.
Ward will engage in the naval stores
business at Starke.
Mayor Henderson paid Fitzgerald
a brief visit Wednesday. It is sup¬
posed he went up to see where the
Way cross Air Line would tap that
city. He wore a vest, strange to
say.
Mr. T. P. Green, of the,Dispatch
force, has rented a cottage on Irwin
avenue and will move his family
here sometime during the present
month. Then there will be another
patch of Greens in town.

ored, were arrested in Fitzgerald
Saturday night by Deputy Sheriffs
R. L. Henderson and I). W. M.
Whitley for gambling. They were
tried before J udge D. W. Paulk and
committed to jail, but gave bond
for appearance.
The Dispatch appreciates the ef-
forts of its friends everywhere in
its behalf. Rich and poor speak a
good word for it, and it finds its
way ito every neighboorhood in the
county. Its growth in circulation
has been steady since its first issue
under the present management, and
it gives us pleasure to know it is a
welcomed weekly visitor at the
sides of hundreds of families.
The Dispatch sends new year
greeting to each of its popular cor-
respondents and thanks them sin-
cerely for their interesting letters
during the past year, coupled with
the hope that they will travel with
us through 1900, aiding us in mak¬
ing the paper more newsy than ever,
to the gratification of hundreds of
people in this and other states.

Mr. Jesse D. Lovett, and Miss
Emma L. Martin, of Fitzgerald,
were married in Fitzgerald Wednes¬
day of last week, Rev. J. M. Fos¬
ter, of Tifton, officiating.

from now until February 27lh at
actual New Y’ork cost, preparatory
to moving from Oeilla.

Mr. Joe Hays, of Florida, spent
the holidays with his uncle, Mr. A.
L. Hays, of this place. He return¬
ed home Wednesday, accompanied
by Miss Nora Hays, who will spend
several months in the Land of
Flowers.
Jack Thomas, colored, was killed
by a falling tree Wednesday, about
four miles southeast of town. He
was cutting Stock foi* the Ensign-
Oskamp Co., and the tree, in fall¬
ing, struck a dead sapling and broke
it, part of it flying back and break¬
ing his neck and one of his legs.
He leaves a wife and five children.
