Taxos for County Purposes $2.00
On the Hundred This Year!
It is currently reported that the
county ie in had shape, financially,
and that taxes for the present year
for county purposes alone will be
$2.00 on the hundred. The same
'‘report” places the indebtedness of
the county at $12,-000, and no money
in the treasury or in sight to meet
the indebtedness.
This was a startler, and, if true,
would put every tax payer in the
j county‘on it, edge. briefly To verify interviewed or
j prove Commissioner wc Henderson. When
I
the reportorial -gimlet was applied j
'ho smiled in a satisfied way and said:
“The county lacks about $12,'00O
of being'indebt that sum. When the
grand jury meets next week and the
matter is investigated, I hope con¬
fidence will be restored and the good
old county of Irwin will continue
her unhampered march to a place
among the foremost counties in the
South.”,
