The Jail Dinned.
The jail was set on fire by
Jim Bryant and Berry Powell,
the two inmates, Thursday
night and totally destroyed.
The fire was discovered about
2 oVlock by Dr stewart and
the Sheiiff was at once sent for,
By good luck lie was at home
and he reached the jail just in
time to save the prisoners a
goo d scorching. They started
tention to keep the fire under
control and when the hole was
larg" enough escape, but the
fire got beyond their control,
and it was a narrow escape
they had for their lives. About
12 or 15 years ago some negroes
tried to burn out of the old jail
and burned up with it.
The jail was a poor affair
and will not be a great loss, to
the county.
