THE HUMAN EAR.
A notable lecture on the sense of
hearing by Dr. Hartman.
During the course of one of
Dr. Hartman’s latest lectures at
the surgical hotel he said :
“ Good hearing is essential to
health and safety. A continual
roaring, cracking and buzzing in
the head which is always pro
duced by partial loss of hearing
is a constant nervous irritation
which will gradually undermine
the strength. Besides this even
the slighest loss of hearing ren
ders anyone more liable to
cident, many persons being Kill
ed every year because of partial
deafness. Many people think
that the gradual loss of
is inevitable and that everyone
must submit to it soonror later,
Hence they make no attempt
find a cure. This is a great mis¬
take. Loss of hearing in either
old or young people is neai lv
always due to ehaonic catarrh
of the head or middle ear.”
Catarrhal deafness is due to
catarrh of the throat passing up
“Xtiddl“l“cauS to tne middle eai. ine catarrn
Por eai. The Ilie svmntoms symptoms are are • . Roar- ttoar
