I. We both started by playing

! We would then sit up lam
at night and play among our

just for amusment understand.
We first sat up until ten, then
twelve, and finally got to where
we would sit up ali night, which
lisas every one knows injurious
to the health if it led to no other
evil results, and what could be
worse than this one for when
health is gone there is no pleas¬

went from the parlor to the ho¬

gambling saloon vvhere each
man’s pistol was lain on his
money, and if it was removed
without his promission the pos

whirled into Eternity and the
body concealed. You may
think you will stop before you
reach that point. I thought so
too. Just think of it. I have
caused my mother to fill an u n

disgraced, and saddest of all
brought my wife and little one?
to poverty and desertion, for in
a fit of anger I shot a man in a
gambling saloon and had to run

sneered at and bear the disgrace
alone. To-day finds me a dis¬

Think about, it. a n imevit.
What is the us of fret-tin-.;? Life
is so short, so fleeting. There
are so many things to enjoy in
this world. If you fool away
your time with petty troubles
the golden moments will glide
by and leave j r ou disconsolate,
Try to live up to the require¬
ments of every hour of your
life and bind the whole together
with threads of sunshine.
By being happy you make oth¬
ers happy. You keep the divine
light of gladness glowing a
round you so that others may
be led into hopeful ways,
There is plenty of time to be
happy, but no time to worry
over troubles. Put them aside
and laugh and be joyful. And
