the language of the-street gam¬

was enough.” He is pointed and
piquant, critical andgiave, and
some of his iligbts of eloquence
are simply grand. He spoke
for two hours and when he
closed at 2 o’clock in the after¬
noon his audience was with
him. He exploded populist
arguments right and left, and
awakened enthusiasm in the
democrats of the county that
had been sleeping since two
years ago. But few populist
were out to hear him and he
sincerely regretted the fact.
11 is defense of Gov. Atkinson
against the assault made upon
him by the populists was strong
andstrengihened the supporters
of the govenor in this county.
Everybody present enjoyed
his speech and have placed a
magnificent estimate upon the
ability and worth of MU Berner.
As a whole 'the two speeches
were badly needed in Rockd.de
and came at a good time. The
good they accomplished and will
yet accomplish will help great
ly to bring us great victory in
the election, qnd our people feel
grateful for them.
