been so considered by all men of
all parties who witnessed it.
The candidates now in the fie ld,
so far as vve cim learn, are oppos¬

the nomination. There is noth¬
ing to commend such a practice te
the party and il it is persisted in
many good democrats will cei so
to participate in it. In the Inst

Such rottenness is not demoern

important that the county Execn

restrictions about these primary

there is no excuse for holdiin.

The democrats of Roekdnle ought
to be able to protect the party,
to name their candidates without
outside assistance and elect them
with good, honest ballots.

Berner’s reference in his Mon

It is said that many thousand

Probable War.
As we go to press the situa¬
tion between this country and
Spain is very critical and an
break at any time would not
surprise the people.
It is expected that the court
of inquiry will make its
withinjthe next day or so, and
prominent men every where pre¬
dict that a crisis is at hand. A
suppressed excitement or feeling
of expectancy is present with
he people and it grows with
time. The country has been on
a strain since the destruction of
the Maine and the suspense can -
not possibly hold out muen loug
er.
Everything possible is being
done by the administration to
be prepared for any emergency
and if war is declared Uncle
Sam will be in readiness to be¬
gin the work of destruction •
If Tom Watson accepts?
Georgia politics will not have
a fair showing so long as this
war talk continues.
