Some New Taxes.
Among the many items that
will be taxed under the revenue
mil, there are a number that
will affect the people directly
But the classes as well as the
masses will have to bear the
burdens.
1. There is a pretty stiff tax
of ten cents a pound on tea.
2. A beer and tobacco tax
will undoubtedly make these
articles dearer, or the consumer
must be content with less or an
inferior article.
3. Life insurance policies will

-1. Patent medicines and
chewing gum will come in also
for their share
5. Bankers and brokers will
pay a special tax.

issue of securities must pay
something to the government.
7. Telegrams and long dis¬
tance telephone messages.
8. Wine and sleeping cat
tickets.
9. Sugar and oil refiners.
