Covering Contagious Diseases.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and City
Council, of the city of. Conyers, Ga.,
and it is hereby ordained, That any
person or persons residing within the
incorporate limits of said city, when
they believe or have any cause to be¬
lieve, tnat a contagious disease of any
kind exists in their family, shall at once
call in a practicing physician of said
city (or city physieion whose services
will be free of charge to persons resid¬
ing within said city) and if such physi¬
cian shall pronounce the disease to he
any of the followingSmallpox. Scar¬
let fever, Diphtheria, Meningitis, Rose¬
ola, Scarletma, Colera, Yellow fever,
then they shall report same to the City
Physician or his agent at once.
Sec. 2. It shall he the duty of the
head of the house to isolate the patient
or patients when it cGines to their
Knowledge that any of the above meu
rionen contagious diseases exists in the
household.
SEC. 8. Ko person or persons shall he
allowed in and out of the room cr rooms
except the physicians. If any one else
should go i.ito the room then it shall be
the duty of the head of the house to
cause said person or persons to he con¬
fined, in some suitable place, (that is is¬
olated) for a period of not less than five
days. At the expiration of five days
they shall call in or cause to be called in,
the city physician or his legally appoin¬
ted agent, and if he shall pronounce
said person or persons entirely out of
danger of contracting the disease, then
with proper fumigation, the said person
or persons shall Lie discharged, if the
said physician does not pronpunee said
person or persons entirely out of danger
then he will order them to remain in
the room or rooms until he sees proper
to turn them out.
Sec. 4. No article or articles shall he
removed from infected rooms except un¬
der the direction of the City Physician
Sec. 5. At any time the city physi¬
cian deems it proper for any patient or
patients to be confined in a pest house

be eared for and looked after, investi¬
gate and when necessary, fumigate the

Sec. 8. Any person who shall come
before the Mayor and take an oath that
he is not able to bear any cr all of the
expences that may accrue in carrying
out the above ordinance, then he shall
be exempted and said expences will be
born by said city, otherwise the person
or persons shall bear all expences that
may accrue except City Physicians
services.
Sec. {). Any person or persons disre
gturding the instructions liereiu set forth
and that may hereafter be given by the
City Physician, shall be deemed guilt}
scribed in Sec. 20 of the Amended
Charter of aud city.
The ordinance was read the first and
second time and on motion the rules
were suspended, the ordinance read the
third time and passed. This September
16, 1901.
