DEATH.
The death of the infant of Mr.
and Mrs. L. A. Sharp, occurred at
their'home in this city last Satur¬
day night after an illness of sev¬
eral weeks. The devoted parents
have the sympathy of many friends
m their sad affliction.
The remains of the little one
were offered in Rockdale cemetery

The many friends of Dr. M. II.
Melton, of Conyers, will be de¬
lighted to learn that he lias been
tendered t lie position of storekeep¬
er at the now federal prison in At¬
lanta. The position was secured
for him by Col. L. F. Livingston,
and is a most excellent one. We
do not know certainly, but have
been informed the salary attached
to the position is about .$1,600.
Tne Star congratulates the doctor
upon his good fortune, as we know
lie is well qualified io fill the posi¬
tion with satisfaction to the gov¬
ernment and credit to himself.—

The books will close Dec. 20th,
and all taxes not paid by that
time, will draw 7% interest fiom
that date until paid.
