Last Sunday was an exceeding¬
ly cold day and many people re¬
mained in their homes instead of
attending church services.
Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Rusk are
entertaining a fine baby boy at
their home.
There was no preaching at the
Baptist church Sunday. Rev. Mr.
Bell, edi'or of the Christian In¬
dex, was expected to conduct
services in the absence of the pas¬
tor, Rev. B. J. W. Graham, but
he failed to come and of course
there was no service.
All the little children are in
glorious anticipation of the ap¬
proaching visit from Santa Claus
and judging from the immense
stock of Christmas goods many
little hearts will be made exceed¬
ingly glad on Christmas eve night.

There will be no regular issue of
the Weekly-Banner next week as
is the custom of this office, Christ

at any other time and the editor

CHRISTMAS TREES.
Christmas eve night the little

ter. will be entertained at the Bap¬
tist and Methodist churches where
Christmas trees will be stripped of
many presents.
On Christmas night the Presbyte¬
rian Sunday School will have a tree,

MARRIAGE.
The marriage of Miss Lucy Ethel
McDonald and Mr. Robt. H. Bel
iaud occurred at the home of the
bride’s parents, Dr. and Mrs. H. II.
McDonald, in this city last Wednes¬
day evening at 6:30 o’clock, The
ceremony was beautifully and im¬
pressively performed by Rev. Dr.
Quiggin the presence of relatives
and friends of the contracting j>ar
ties.
The bride is a young lady of cul¬
ture and refinement, popular among
her many friends here and else¬
where. Her tact and swe«t dispo¬
sition will win friends in her new
home and enable her to contribute
happiness ^ to the fortunate groom.
Welland is a prominent rail

Atlanta and Vest Point Railroad Co,
and is a most worthy young man.
Immediately after the ceremony

Texas, who has been with rela¬
tives and friends here for tho past
four weeks left for his home to¬
day. He lias been making com¬
parisons of the two sections of
Georgia and To: a- best known to
himself and hi* verdict seems to
be vastly in favor of Jones county
where he now lives. He goes bade
therefore, intending to remain in
the lone star State and allow his
family to grow up with that sec¬
tion. We wish him well.
