Rotary Club Spring Fling
The Forsyth-Monroe County Rotary Club is
holding its annual Spring Fling fundraiser
April 19 from 8 p.m. - midnight at the
Central Georgia Convention Complex. The
musical guests will be Soul Purpose. Tickets
are $35 per person or $250 per table of eight.

Fillmores to play Juliette Opry
The Fillmores House Band will play at 7
p.m. April 19 at the Juliette Opry. They play
country music and are a local favorite.
Admission is free. Open mike is at 6 p.m.
and the Whistle Stop Cafe will be serving
dinner until 8 p.m.

Wal-mart hosting
golf tourney for CMN
The Forsyth and Thomaston Wal-Marts
will be hosting a golf tournament for the
Children’s Miracle Network at the Forsyth
Country Club on April 24. Sign in will be at
8 a.m. and tee off will follow at 9 a.m. The
cost is $65 per person and there will be four
per team. Tee signs may also be purchased
for a $100 donation. Call Sarah or Judy at

DOT chief engineer to speak to
High Falls civic club
Gerald M. Ross, chief engineer
for the Georgia Department of
Transportation will be the guest
speaker at the High Falls Civic
Club meeting at 7 p.m. April 24.
Topics will include future plans
for the 1-75 corridor as well as
other major traffic arteries.
Ross is a Georgia native and a registered
professional engineer and has extensive
experience in urban design. Ross has served
as the State Road and Airport design engi
neer and as division director of planning,
data and intermodal development. In 2007,
he assumed the duties of chief engineer. The
meeting will be held at the High Falls Fire
Station located at 3901 High Falls Road. The
presentation will include time for questions
and discussion and will be followed by light
refreshments. Everyone is welcome. For

Last call for MP class of‘98
The MPHS class of 1998 will have its final
pre-planning meeting at 1 p.m. at Ebbyz on
April 26. The meeting is in preparation for
the 10 year class reunion. All class members
are invited to share there thoughts and
ideas for the reunion. Don’t miss your
chance to be heard.

UDC to hold Confederate
Memorial Day service
Cabaniss Chapter No. 415 will hold its
annual Confederate Memorial Day service at
2 p.m. April 27 in the Confederate section of
the Forsyth City Cemetery. Ralph Bass will
be the keynote speaker. The service is to pay
homage to the Confederate dead and to also
honor modern day service men and women
who sacrificed much for our Freedom.

Cabiness volunteer fire station
yard sale and chicken-que
The Cabiness volunteer fire department is
holding its annual chicken-que and yard sale
Saturday, May 3. The yard sale begins at 10
a.m. and chicken-que will be from 11 a.m. to
1 p.m. Plates are $7 each and include BBQ
chicken, slaw and baked beans. All proceeds
wil be used to buy equipment for the fire
station. Yard sale donations are needed. To

Backlot Youth to hold auditions
for summer production of ‘Pippin’
Auditions for the Backlot Players summer
youth show "Pippin" are May 19 and 20 at
6:30 p.m. at the Rose Theatre. “Pippin" is a
hip, tongue-in-cheek musical by Roger
Hirson and Steven Schwartz. To stage this
musical, 4 males, 4 females, and a
singing/dancing ensemble are needed.
Auditions are open to rising ninth graders
through college age students. Prepare a tra
ditional 16 bar audition song. An accompa
nist will be provided. Show dates are July

Circle of Care Banquet raises
$3,800 for Community Care
Circle of Care raised over $3,800 for its ministries at its
annual banquet and auction last month at the Central
Georgia Convention Center at Holiday Inn. From left, Con
nie Smith, Dr. Nancy Brunson and Donna Davis check out
items up for silent auction. Dr. Tom Perry is in the back
ground. The ministry operates the Circle of Care Thrift
Store to raise money for its Community Care outreach.
Monroe County to
hold Rabies clinics
Pet owners can have
their dogs or cats vaccinat
ed at a number of rabies
clinics in Forsyth this
weekend. These clinics are
being held in cooperation
with Animal Medical Clinic
of Forsyth and the Monroe
County Extension Service.
Clinics will be held
Saturday April 19 from 9
a.m. to 4 p.m. at a variety
of locations.
4-H members will assist
Kevin Smith with these
clinics. Georgia health law
requires all dogs and cats,
three months of age and
older, must be vaccinated
to protect them and their
owners.
The fee at the clinic is $7
per animal for the one-year
vaccination. Call Animal
