program
Are you or someone you
know suffering from
addiction? There are peo
ple who understand and
care about the emotional
and physical pains that
are caused by addictions.
The Life Recovery pro
gram is for individuals
and families that are
affected by the destruc
tive cycle of addictive
behavior. Addictions are
too powerful to fight on
your own; meet with oth
ers who can relate.
Individual and family
support group meetings
are held at the church
every Tuesday night at 7
p.m. Meetings are confi
dential, private parking
and entrance into the
meetings is available at
the rear of the church.

Alcoholics Anonymous
has an open discussion
meeting each Wednesday
at 8 p.m. at Christ
United Methodist

come. Both meetings are
private and attendees
remain completely
anonymous.

Plantation Quilt
exhibit at Jarrell
Jarrell Plantation
Historic Site is exhibiting
quilts made by the
Plantation Quilters in
their "Roots, Roots, and
Routes" Fall quilt chal
lenge. Members were
each given an identical
piece of fabric and chal
lenged to incorporate it
into a small quilt, wall
hanging, or other object
following a set of guide
lines. The quilts will
remain on exhibit at
least through Dec. 19.
The Plantation Quilters
meet on the third
Saturday of each month
at 9 a.m. at Jarrell
Plantation. Membership
is open to quilters at any
level of expertise. For

the Jarrell Plantation

Canine Christmas
benefit for
Save A Pet
Canine Christmas, a
benefit night for Save
A Pet, Inc., will be held
Dec. 12 at The Ensign
House, 88 Indian
Springs Drive. The
open house event is
from 4 to 8 p.m.
Tickets are $25/person
or $45/couple. There
will be a silent auction
of beautiful and unique
gifts. Raffle tickets for
a handmade Christmas
Tree quilt withdogs,
and handmade large
dog house are avail
able. Call 994-5223 for
more information.
Choral Society presents Christmas shows
Dec. 15
Pay overdue
library book fees
with food
Monroe County Public
Library is offering a spe
cial deal. Tuesday, Dec.
15 has been designated
as a “fine-free” day. On
Dec. 15 just bring in a
non-perishable food item
to the library and you
will not have to pay a
fine on overdue library
books. It does not
include damaged or
ruined library books.
This is a Monroe
County 4-H community
service project. Items
collected will be donated
to the local food bank.

Silent auction at
Circle of Care
The Circle of Care is
holding a silent auction
for special items from 9
a.m.- noon on Dec. 19.
Items include two doll
houses, Christmas dish
es, a large nativity
scene, flatware, and din-
nerware. The Circle of
Care store is located at
52 W. Adams Street.
Celebrating
90 years
Mrs. Grace Cawthon will be
celebrating her 90th birth
day on Dec. 8. She was
married to the late Billy
Cawthon. They were the
owners of Cawthon Store in
Forsyth. She has two sons,
Dr. Tommie Cawthon and Dr.
Phillip Cawthon.

The Choral Society of
Middle Georgia, under
the direction of Dr.
John Simons, will be
performing their annu
al "Christmas with the
Chorale" concerts this
month in Macon and
Warner Robins. A num
ber of Monroe
Countians are among
the singers. They will
be performing Handel's
“Messiah”.
"We are extremely
thrilled to continue our
season with repeat per
formances of the
Messiah", says Johnnie
Goolsby, president of the
group.
The Choral Society of
Middle Georgia, which
has existed sine 1975, is a
community group of 81
singers from the Middle
Georgia community. They
have performed fine
choral works both nation
ally and internationally.
The concerts will be held
on Dec. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at
St. Joseph's Catholic
Church in Macon and on
Dec. 17, at 7:30 p.m. at
First Assembly of God
Church in Warner Robins.
Tickets are $10 general
admission and $8 for stu
dents, seniors, and mili
tary.
