Augusta, June 15 —To testify their cor

man of the Georgia delegation, a number
of his friende went out from the city to

several electric cars, carrying a brass
band to give him a serenade.
After several stirring strains by the
band, Hon. J. C. C. Black, voiced the
sentiments of the crowd in an eloquent
tribute to the loyal Democracy and splen
did party services of Mr. Wright, and the
gratification that his fellow citizens felt
In the fact, that from all over the slate
had come the cordial and spontaneous
movement to do him honor.
Mr. Wright responded in happy vein,
assuring his fellow citizens that he valued
their friendship and approval of the ac
tion of the convention, even more highly
than the honor itself. He then went
into a brief discussion of the work which
the National Convention would have be
fore it. and the importance of the Issues
Involving the very integrity of the repub
lic, itself, that confront the people of
the country In the pending campaign
Calls were made by the crowd for Judge
W. F. Eve, Judge H. C. Ronev, Messrs.
M P. Carroll, D. G. Fogarty. W. H. Bar
rett, E. B. Hook, J, J. Doughty, C. A.
Picquet, P. M. Mulherin and S. H. Cohen,

given Georgia governors in the past, she
eould do so in the future, and following
Boykin Wright, Richmond county democ

was met with hearty Indorsement, and
this is a proposition which the people of

the matter of back tajees. The city and
county officials set out some time ago to
collect these back taxes, which, under
a recent decision of the Supreme Courts,

claimed. The Western Union representa

a cent less than the amount claimed. The
matter ha# not been settled as yet, and
will come up again In a few days.
