WEEKLY MARKET HEY IE W.
totlnn Sllahtly Easier on Increased
Iterelpfe—Stocks Generally Weaker.
Speculation tn cotton has been on s re

of the market has been downward, owing
!o the larger crop movement. At the close
price* show a decline of about 15 points.

The market would probably have broken
further but for support borrowed from
the anticipation of a bullish crop etl

trade appears to be quite determined that
this report must indk-ate a small crop,
cartainly not over 9.750 000 biles, end very
possibly under 9,500.un0 Strength would
deilve from anything under the snsiller
figures, whl.e It Is expected that any hlng
over the larger ones would Impart weak
ness. The extreme confidence mnlfesd
that the forecast wl.l be sma.l appear*
to amount almost to foreknowledge, but
such can hardly be the case, for then the
market ought to have shown m ire
strength during the pist few days.
Supposing the percentage of the cron
marketed to date to he the same as last
year, allowing Joontn hales of old cotton
in last year's crop—thus making It onlv
9.140.000 ba.e—and al-o allowing 100(09

crop would be about 9.950 0(0 tulle* But
It seems impossible lh*( the proportion
