Jerome objected on the ground that
the witness had already been exam

Jerome said more than a month ago
In court that he might ask for the In
dictment of another oerson connected
with the case. Lawyer Delmaa, one of
Thaw's counsel, believed that the dis
trict attorney referred to Evelyn Thaw
•nd made a statement In court to that
effect. But Jerome denied that he had
•ny Intention of prosecuting young
Mra. Thaw.
It Is known that Jerome haa been
trying to obtain evidence to show that
one of Thaw's friends advised him to
•hoot White.
The evidence I* still Incomplete and
for that reason has not been Intro'
duced, but If Thaw la convicted, It la
likely that he will be called to the
•tend to corroborate the atory.
Evelyn to Taatify.
Evelyn Ne*blt Thaw went to court
today prepared to again go on the wit
ness stand and do battle for her hus-
band.
Lawyer Delmaa had obtained the
permission of Justice Fltsgerald to re
call Mr*. Thaw before the state rlae*d
lu caae In rebuttal that she might con
tradict Abraham Hummel, and It waa
expected the would be put on the stand
today.
Tha lawyer* for the defenae had not
decided whelher they would wait until j
all the wltneeae* for the slate had
been examined or would suspend that
part of Ihe testimony long enough to
get In the testimony of Mrs. Thaw.
It wa* known today, however, that
the young wife was prepared to con-
tradtrt Hummel on a vital point. This
was that Hummel was acting as her
lawyer and not solely a* counsel for
Htanford White when she wa* taken
to hla office by White at the time Ihe
affidavit was said to have been
