on collision between a freight train
tnd a work train, which cams together
In the middle ot Bwannanoa tunnel,
caused a bad wreck Monday morning
and delayed traffic on the Aahevllle-
Ballsburp division for twelve honra.
Engineer J. K. Harrison and Fireman
Joe Davidson, or the freight, and John
C. Hammett and John Davidson, brake-
men on the work train, were badly cut
ud bruised. Both engines were wreck

Cornelia. Oa* March 26 —Dr. J. W.
McConnell died at his home herp last
Friday night, March 11, after ol>. III-
■ of ten days. The cause of hit
death was pneumonia. Dr. McCon
nell was 44 years old.
He had been a devout member of the
Methodtot church here for a number of
pears.
The funeral was preached hy Rev.
KoMnson. pastor of the Methodist
chorrb. Dr. McConnell Is survlvsd bp

For twenty-two years Mark J. Boto'
mon. of Savannah, had been endeavor.

man. He had been to court regularly
twice a year alnce that time, but to
his disgust, the case was always post
poned for one reason or another. But
last August he succeeded In getting the
case to trial, sad then he had a sur
prise. t
He was convicted of manslaughter
and sentenced to three yean In the
penitentiary. Now hi* case la to ba
heard before the court of appeals. He
denies any guilt.
Bolomon engaged In a difficulty with
young Newman when they both were
boys. To go free through his young
manhood, to rise to a responsible posi
tion. to be married—and then to be
sentenced to prison for an affair of
twenty-two yean ago, la enough
make s mu think he has a had dream.
Shelby Myrlek, ode of Savannah's

corder of that city, arrived In Atlanta
Wednesday and will argue the case be
fore the Court of appeals. He says It

Mr. Bolomon Is now an engineer on
the Atlantic Coast Line. He runs the
Florida vestibule, one of the fast trains,

on the system.

In the fall of 1125, Mr. Solomon

night from the residence of a young
