THE ATLANTA GEORGIAN AND NEWS,
DR, THOMAS RIDER
FATALLY STABBED
AT HOTJPRINGS
Personal Encounter Grows
Out of Long Piglit Against
Ethical Doctors.
Special to The Georgian.
Hot Springs, Ark., May 11.—Dr.
Thoma* B. Rider, formerly of Co turn-
bus, Ga., was probably fatally stabbed
5 day afternoon by Dr. A. U. Wll-
one of the wealthiest and most
nent physicians of Hot Springs.
The stabbing followed an assault on
Williams by Rider. Rider met Wil
liams In the corridor of the Kempner
building, where Rider's offices are lo
cated, and struck him several blows.
Williams drew a pocketknlfe and stab
bed Rider In the abdomen. The as
sault Is attributed by Dr. Williams to
the prominent part he has taken In the
crusade against "drumming" doctors.
He was not seriously hurt. Williams
has not been arrested.
Dr. Rider came into notoriety by su
lng former Secretary of Interior Hitch
cock for (100,000 In connection with
the prolonged fight against the ethical
doctors of Hot Springs.
Dr. Rider has been debarred from
prescribing the hot waters ffom the
government reservation for over a
year, and In his struggle to practice
here has carried suits to the supreme
court of the United States, and has
Iain In Jail, refusing to pay fines. He
was apparently prosperous, and has
spent thousands of dollars In his fight
for what he considered his rights.
KEEP THE BALANCE UP.
It has been truthfully said that any
disturbance of the even balance of
health causes serious trouble. Nobody
can be too cureful to keep this balance
up. When people begin to lose appe
tite. or to get tired easily, the least Im
prudence brings on sickness, weakness
or debility. The system needs u tonic,
craves It, and should not bo denied It;
and the best tonic of which we have
any knowledge Is Hood's Sarsaparilla.
What this medicine has done In keep
ing healthy people healthy, In keeping
up the even balance of health, gives It
the same distinction as a preventive
that It enjoys as a cure. Its early use
has Illustrated tho wisdom of the old
saying that a stitch In time saves nine.
Take Hood’s for appetite, strength and
endurance.
